There is no denying that Laminar Research has done an impressive job with the next-gen X Plane 11 Global Flight Simulator. It offers a modern take on Flight Simulators. We have found it to be a breath of fresh air. To ensure that you know everything about it before starting, we have prepared the ultimate review of the simulator and suggest some of the best accessories that you can use to take your gaming experience to the next level.

Introduction:

Few products come with such a range of aircraft or a game setting for propeller planes and helicopters. In any case, this series is about the myriad options available in X-Plane 11, including the sheer number of tweaks.

When you start the X-Plane free download, you’ll find the usual fare: World War II planes, as seen in the demo. This “arcade” plane sim offers an experience, but it is not suitable for those with lesser hardware, as the frame rate dips. You’ll find the original test planes there. The X-Plane interface will remind you of the classic Flight Simulator, but the visuals are more complex and the systems are less easy to understand.

On the other hand, X-Plane 11 has real 3D cockpits, with vents, heads-up display (HUD) screens, screens in the passenger compartment and cockpit.

Setup Process:

X Plane 11 Simulator can currently be bought from plenty of online retailers in either digital download format or disc. If you opt for the complete disc booklet, you will need to provide your address which is something that not everyone is comfortable with. As the game boasts stunning visuals, it also provides a lot of space to store all those details. The game needs a whopping 60 G.B. of free space. Therefore, you must have extra room to download the game on the drive.

Once you have entered the disc or downloaded the software from the internet, you will need to open the file to start the setup. After the setup is complete, you should launch the game and start flying. Make sure to adjust the settings for the best controls, quality, and resolution. During the initial setup, you should also connect your H.O.T.A.S. (Hands-on Throttle-and-Stick). If you do not have one, we have suggested the best one in the accessories section for X Plane 11. You will need to connect all the cables with the USB ports to use the accessory. After you hook it up, Windows will instantly recognize it and download the necessary drivers.

System Requirements:

Experience matters in X-Plane 11. With nearly 20,000 airplanes to choose from, pilots will have plenty of choice in their in-air flight sim boxes. But how you fly and how you configure your aircraft are up to you.

The top X-Plane flight sim, X-Plane 10, was excellent in every respect but lacks the finesse in control layout, materials and graphics found in the latest version. X-Plane 11 is an unequivocal improvement over its predecessor, which remains excellent and easily worth the money. The immersive, cinematic 3D cockpit with detailed instruments and a host of upgrade options make it clear that the firm is sticking to its guns with its flight sim publishing strategy.

Recommended system requirement for X Plane 11 is:

⦁ Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.
⦁ OS: Windows 7, 8.1, or 10, 64-bit.
⦁ Processor: Intel Core i5 6600K at 3.5 GHz or faster.
⦁ Memory: 16 GB RAM.
⦁ Graphics: DirectX 12-capable video card from NVIDIA or AMD w/4 GB VRAM.
⦁ DirectX: Version 12.
⦁ Network: Broadband Internet connection.
⦁ Storage: 65 GB available space.

Gameplay and Graphics:

X plane 11 Simulator

Now that we have covered the setup, you must be wondering what gameplay is like. The truth is that the gameplay is as good as it gets. In fact, it is very close to flying an actual plane. Before you can take off, you have to choose from various options. There are many things that you can choose from. However, you first need to try the Flight School to teach you all the basics of flight and ensure that you are acclimated. However, you can jump straight into the plane if you are not a newcomer. You can choose from a limited range of aircraft, including basic prop planes and huge jumbo jets. But, you do have the option to purchase aircraft.

When it comes to environments, all major airports and cities are accessible. In fact, you even get to select custom weather effects or stick to real-world conditions which are updated in real-time. Thus, you get to benefit from a bit of diversity. If there is one thing that we did not like about the gameplay, it is the fact that there are not many custom missions that allow you to have fun. This is because the game has been designed for enthusiasts who prefer real-life experiences. A great thing about the game is that it allows you to fine-tune the specs, including fuel level and weight. As you play the game, you will get to take control of a fully clickable cockpit that feels very solid. It immerses you and ensures that you have a great time.

Although the graphics of X Plane comprises breathtaking visuals, optimization is subpar. As the game requires monster storage, the graphics are truly remarkable. The planes are the main focus. Besides, fewer planes in the game mean that each aircraft has superb detailing.

In addition to the planes, the environments you select feel realistic and are perfectly laid out. Cities like N.Y.C. not only feature accurate buildings but also include traffic and road layouts that improve the overall gaming experience.

  1. Hi, great detailed post on this flight simulator.

I have used the Microsoft flight simulator. I purchased it when I was doing my recreational pilot license in Aust. Although I have not used this simulator, I know what you are talking about compared to the Microsoft flight simulator.

Although I do not have a yoke, I did have a good joystick and rudder controls and surround sound. It seems like a pretty good simulator, but I think I will stick with Microsoft after your review.

  2. Hello,

I have read your post about the flight simulator and it seems amazing. I have friends who are in the aviation field and I have shown them this and they all downloaded it and said it’s pretty easy to use as you have mentioned.

Ofc there are a couple of cons but the benefits are amazing!

    Thank you for the read,

    Karan

  3. This is the best non-commercial simulator I’ve ever flown, but in order to take advantage of all of the best features, you must have at least a high-end (3.4Ghz+) 6th generation i5 or i7 processor with a recent (latest generation or two) external graphics card.
If you don’t, you might as well stick with X-Plane 10, as you won’t be able to use the new features anyway.
I gave it a shot on my old Thinkpad (i7-4910 16GB Integrated graphics only):

Graphics and power settings have been tuned for maximum performance. There is only one touchscreen.

Game Rendering Mode is set to Low (some 3D objects).

It works surprisingly well (30fps) but forget about multiple screens, weather, or other variables (all the new stuff).

If you have a real gaming computer or a thin gaming computer, Get this if you’re thinking about getting one.
And, with a little tweaking, it will still work on your travel laptop.

    1. Yes you need powerful computer but not necessarily expensive one to have good gaming experience. Maybe in future I will think of getting good gaming computer. Thanks for the feedback.

  4. This seems like a pretty interesting and safe plane to hop on. The one thing that I really care about is my own safety. I do not want to get on a plane that would jeopardize my safety. I know I said that it is safe but do you think that it is safe?

  5. I would love to start gaming again — this was an intriguing post, and I am glad that the pros outweighed the cons. The gaming experience is the best when you can immerse yourself in the world to the point it feels like more than a simulation. Having these accessories recreates the situation and adds more value. Anything that upgrades the overall feel and technicality (specificity) is well worth the investment.

That said, I want to reap all the benefits associated with plane 11. Knowledge is power. Accessories are leverage. Thanks!!
