Laminar research develops X plane 11 Simulator. It is a small company in Columbia, South Carolina. The scenery, aircraft, 3D buildings, airport, and vehicles are more detailed than Flight Simulator X. It is for professional and personal use. The aircraft cockpit and exteriors are more precise. It requires more computer space than Flight Simulator X but less space than Flight Simulator 2020.

If you have ever suffered a spat of turbulence and wondered how you’d do at the controls of an airliner, then it’s time you took a spin in X-Plane 11, the industrial-grade flight simulator you can download to your desktop.

You’ll take in the high-res scrolling landscape beneath you or above you whenever you learn that no, you cannot fly better than the pros. You’ll first marvel at the instrument panels, the realistic sea of buttons and dials that control autopilot, the engines, flaps, radio communications, among scores of other functions. And then, you’ll feel the plane: the flexing wings, the spinning of the engines when you hit the throttle, the deep hum when you deploy the landing gear.

Few products come with such a range of aircraft or a game setting for propeller planes and helicopters. In any case, this series is about the myriad options available in X-Plane 11, including the sheer number of tweaks.

When you start the X-Plane free download, you’ll find the usual fare: World War II planes, as seen in the demo. This “arcade” plane sim offers an experience, but it is not suitable for those with lesser hardware, as the framerate dips. You’ll find the original test planes there. The X-Plane interface will remind you of the classic Flight Simulator, but the visuals are more complex and the systems are less easy to understand.

On the other hand, X-Plane 11 has real 3D cockpits, with vents, heads-up display (HUD) screens, screens in the passenger compartment and cockpit.

System Requirements:

Experience matters in X-Plane 11. With nearly 20,000 airplanes to choose from, pilots will have plenty of choice in their in-air flight sim boxes. But how you fly and how you configure your aircraft are up to you.

The top X-Plane flight sim, X-Plane 10, was excellent in every respect but lacks the finesse in control layout, materials and graphics found in the latest version. X-Plane 11 is an unequivocal improvement over its predecessor, which remains excellent and easily worth the money. The immersive, cinematic 3D cockpit with detailed instruments and a host of upgrade options make it clear that the firm is sticking to its guns with its flight sim publishing strategy.

Recommended system requirement for X Plane 11 is:

⦁ Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.
⦁ OS: Windows 7, 8.1, or 10, 64-bit.
⦁ Processor: Intel Core i5 6600K at 3.5 GHz or faster.
⦁ Memory: 16 GB RAM.
⦁ Graphics: DirectX 12-capable video card from NVIDIA or AMD w/4 GB VRAM.
⦁ DirectX: Version 12.
⦁ Network: Broadband Internet connection.
⦁ Storage: 65 GB available space.

My experience with X plane 11 Simulator:

X plane 11

I downloaded the Simulator program from the Steam app. The menus are easy to navigate. However, the settings are more detailed. Before using the joystick, I have to configure first which buttons to use to control the aircraft. In my opinion, setting the joystick is complicated. It is different from the joystick in Flight Simulator X. I also noticed the menus are different from Microsoft Flight Simulator but simple to navigate.

When I accessed the flight lesson, I had to use the mouse to move the aircraft up and down. At first, it was not easy, but now it is easy. The plane was Cessna 172. Even in Microsoft Flight Simulator X or 2020, you can access the lesson, but in my opinion, it is easier than X plane 11.

I was playing the game, and I noticed the graphics and scenery were not as beautiful as Flight Simulator X or 2020, in my opinion, but the aircraft are more detailed. There is fewer aircraft option in this Simulator version. I took off without communicating with the air traffic controller because I did not know how to activate it, but I accessed the Flight lesson, and I completed the Flight tasks. While taking off, I can hear the noise of the wheel and the aircraft, and it sounded like I was flying a real plane.

The X plane 11 version was laggy, and the measurement of time was slow because the frame rate was very low by default. I tried to adjust the frame higher, but it did not work because I did not have the latest graphic card. I have to update the graphic card or get a gaming computer.

X plane 11 Pros:

In short, the pros of X Plane 11 are:

⦁ Smooth, forceful, precise flight
⦁ Lots of instruments
⦁ It comes in the form of a plug-in
⦁ Advertisement

X plane 11 Cons:

You’ll probably need to re-acquaint yourself with controls, rather than getting carried away, as you do when in an airliner. Cons of X Plan 11 are:

⦁ Slow to load sometimes
⦁ Couple annoying quirks

X plane 11 on the iOS device:

Getting Started:

getting started

First things first: make sure you’ve got the latest version of X-Plane installed. Go to Software > Get, Install or Update from the menu, and click Check for Updates. You’ll see the latest version in the Download section of the dialogue box, and if you already have it installed, you’ll be asked if you want to restart your PC. If you’re not on the latest version, download X-Plane 11.

If you don’t, you’ll be met with the old-school loading screen that most PC flight simulators still use to start up. Tops up and off you go.

X-Plane 11 Accessories:

1- Full PCs from X-Force:

Custom computers from X-Force provide a solid and high performance base configuration, with the ability to customize many of the internal components for even more performance as your budget allows. X-Plane systems are built with reliability and performance in mind to provide you with the best possible gaming experience for the money. Paying hundreds of dollars more for only marginal performance gains is against our philosophy. You can be sure that our available upgrades to our base systems are providing you with true performance gains for your money.

2- Flight Hardware and Other Accessories:

Flight hardware, including yokes and joysticks, are available from here. These are tested to ensure the best experience with X-Plane.

Our X-Plane peripherals have been chosen for their high-quality, good performance, and complete compatibility. CH Products are the recommended flight controllers by the creators of X-Plane. X-Force is an authorized reseller and direct supplier for CH Products and Play seat.

3- Mac computers

Austin Meyer, the author of X-Plane, does all of his development work for X-Plane on Macs, and he recommends them. The latest iMacs and Mac Pros from Apple run X-Plane well, though they will not be able to “max out” X-Plane 10 (there’s not a personal computer on the planet to do that yet!).

Conclusion:

X plane 11 Simulator

If you’ve enjoyed flight sims in the past, or have an affinity for flying or motor racing, then this could be the best Flight Simulator for you.

You might consider yourself a complete expert in aircraft management or terrain generation but if you’re thinking of competing at world-level in either of those sports, this is definitely not the game for you.

Still, if you’re looking for a near-impeccable simulation of the intricacies of flight and you can handle some bumpy flights, then X-Plane 11 is your best bet. And if you’re hoping to build your skills, it’s also where you can start.

If you spend a little time in X-Plane, you’ll quickly fall under its spell. Some of the pilots who have flown around the world in real jets will surely recommend the program to you. And if you are a newcomer to the world of aircraft simulators, it’s a no-brainer, especially if you can afford the USD200 upgrade price for a massive 60-gigabyte installer that contains all the options and interfaces necessary to create your own unique digital fighter.

Perhaps most importantly, X-Plane 11 is not just a flight simulator. The finished product is more than a tool for learning to fly a plane. It’s also an airplane simulator, yes, but an airplane simulator that is far more than that.

  1. Hi, great detailed post on this flight simulator.

I have used the Microsoft flight simulator. I purchased it when I was doing my recreational pilot license in Aust. Although I have not used this simulator, I know what you are talking about compared to the Microsoft flight simulator.

Although I do not have a yoke, I did have a good joystick and rudder controls and surround sound. It seems like a pretty good simulator, but I think I will stick with Microsoft after your review.

  2. Hello,

I have read your post about the flight simulator and it seems amazing. I have friends who are in the aviation field and I have shown them this and they all downloaded it and said it’s pretty easy to use as you have mentioned.

Ofc there are a couple of cons but the benefits are amazing!

    Thank you for the read,

    Karan

  3. This is the best non-commercial simulator I’ve ever flown, but in order to take advantage of all of the best features, you must have at least a high-end (3.4Ghz+) 6th generation i5 or i7 processor with a recent (latest generation or two) external graphics card.
If you don’t, you might as well stick with X-Plane 10, as you won’t be able to use the new features anyway.
I gave it a shot on my old Thinkpad (i7-4910 16GB Integrated graphics only):

Graphics and power settings have been tuned for maximum performance. There is only one touchscreen.

Game Rendering Mode is set to Low (some 3D objects).

It works surprisingly well (30fps) but forget about multiple screens, weather, or other variables (all the new stuff).

If you have a real gaming computer or a thin gaming computer, Get this if you’re thinking about getting one.
And, with a little tweaking, it will still work on your travel laptop.

    1. Yes you need powerful computer but not necessarily expensive one to have good gaming experience. Maybe in future I will think of getting good gaming computer. Thanks for the feedback.
